It is not uncommon to see several thousand ducks rise off the water after the first shot has been fired. Water Fowl include Spur Wing Geese, Red Billed Duck, Hottentot Teal, White Backed Duck, Fulvous Duck, White Faced Duck, Knob Billed Duck and Pygmy Geese.


In Mozambique the sand forest is home to the Crested Guinea Fowl living in some of the thickest undergrowth making them extremely difficult to flush. However they do make for sporting shooting as they fly in amongst the thick undergrowth.


Francolin and Spurfowl are well suited to crop farming and are found in coveys and small groups around the grain lands. Francolin are shot over English Pointers on the edges of the grain fields.
